SOME DISTINGUISHED OLD CESTREFELDIANS

The School has a long and proud history of developing boys to achieve their potential. Many have gone on to distinguish themselves in the fields of academia, commerce, public service, sport, the arts and elsewhere. Some notable instances are included here.

Erasmus Darwin

One who deserves special note from the eighteenth century is Erasmus Darwin the eminent physician, scientist, inventor, poet, founder member of the Lunar Society and grandfather of Charles Darwin.

Sir Robert Robinson

The School also nurtured a Nobel Prize winner, Sir Robert Robinson. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1947.
